Soapbox is now Dump Club!

In a nutshell

  • Soapbox is under new management and is rebranding as Dump Club
  • Discord will be the central hub for event details, updates, and community chats (no more Humanitix events)
  • There will also be an email list you can subscribe to for event details
  • New attendees are always welcome — participation is flexible and low-pressure.

The full update

For the past year, Soapbox has been the beating pulse of (an otherwise comatose) neurocraft. A monthly online space where neurokin from across timezones gather to celebrate the infodump. I can't tell you how joyful it has been to watch it grow from an idea to the community it is now. From urban bird antics to pet physios to the indie web and everything else in-between, it has been magical to be part of the sharing of random knowledge between passionate humans.

A couple of months ago, I announced I would be handing over the reins to Lana and James, who have been staunch supporters since the very beginning, and if last month's session hosted by them is anything to go by, it's going to continue to evolve as a warm, accepting and joyful space!

There will be some changes to the logistics of how the monthly links are accessed (Humanitix will no longer be used). Here is a message from your new hosts on how it will work going forwards:

Soapbox Sessions is rebranding as Dump Club, and will now be centered around a community on Discord. Discord is a free online platform where our community can connect as much or as little as you want - use text and voice chat to share memes and music, chat about your favourite special interests, and even match with other dumpers to have online one-to-one infodumps outside of the continuing monthly event.

You don’t need to be tech-savvy — just click this link, create a free account if you don’t already have one, and follow the prompts to enter the Dump Club space.

All event info and updates will now be shared there, including details for our weekly one-hour sessions.

Having said that, we'll also be continuing email signups through an updated Google Form, which will replace the old Humanitix signup method. After you submit the form, you’ll receive emails each month with the link to the event.
